RI ambassador asked to promote S Sulawesi tourism in Holland

Makassar (ANTARA News) - The South Sulawesi provincial administration has asked the Indonesian ambassador to the Netherlands to promote the province`s tourism potentials in the West European country.

Deputy Governor of South Sulawesi Agus Arifin Numang following a closed door meeting with ambassador Yunus Efendi Habibie said here Tuesday he hoped the diplomat would help promote the tourist objects and destinations in South Sulawesi, including Rotterdam Fort built by the Dutch colonialists in Makassar.

He hoped the introduction of all the tourist objects and destinations in the province to European countries needs to be started in Holland, because the close historical relations between the province and the Netherlands provides a high potential and effectiveness in the introduction of the attractiveness of tourist objects and destinations in South Sulawesi.

Yunus E. Habibie also hailed the request from the South Sulasesi administration especially now that Indonesia has started reviving its positive image following the twin bomb attacks in Jakarta.

Yunus said 1.7 million people in the Netherlands have friends in Indonesia, including in South Sulawesi.(*)
